Mary Anne Case on "Feminist Fundamentalism"

Professor Mary Anne Case from the University of Chicago Law School will be in town this Monday and Tuesday, at the invitation of myself and Professor Jeff Redding at SLU, discussing her current project on "Feminist Fundamentalism." She will be doing a public lecture at SLU on Monday evening from 6-8pm in their Courtroom. This talk will consider how an extremely rigorous sex-blind approach to the law would deal with issues pertaining to women's (religious) veiling practices, as well as other issues where there appears to be a conflict between religious liberty and accommodation and sex equality. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend the lecture. On Tuesday, at noon at Wash U, Mary Anne has agreed to do a small faculty workshop on another part of the Feminist Fundamentalism project, focusing on sex equality and family law. (You are welcome to bring your lunch and dessert will be provided.) If you would like to attend this workshop please email me for the paper.
